City of Stirling 2020/21 operational budget
The 2020/21 Budget has been developed congruent with the State government’s Integrated Planning and Reporting Framework and incorporates those projects and activities identified to continue, commence or be finalised during the year.
The City has also budgeted to undertake major capital projects, including: y y Recycling Centre Balcatta Redevelopment y y Hamersley Public Golf Course Redevelopment y y Stirling Leisure Centres – Terry Tyzack Aquatic Centre – Inglewood Redevelopment y y Bina Parkland Development y y Inglewood Oval and Hamer Park Redevelopment y y Stephenson Avenue Extension Project y y Continued development of Rights of Way The City is in a solid financial position, remaining debt free, with its finances aligned to strategic priorities. The City will implement differential rates in 2020/21, which will enable an effective rate freeze for rate payers and waste charges for domestic ratepayers have been reduced. Along with new flexible payment options, and the removal of interest, penalty and arrangement fees, the budget will provide much needed financial assistance to the City’s ratepayers.
The package will stimulate the local economy, support local businesses and provide financial assistance to ratepayers and community groups. It will also provide more job opportunities through spend on labour-focussed capital projects including: y y $22.9 million on roads, drainage and footpaths y y $4.0 million on Right of Way y y $33.5 million of capital building works y y $11.5 million on parks and reserves.
A central part of the City of Stirling’s 2020/21 Budget is a $43.7 million Economic Stimulus and Community Recovery Package in response to the recovery phase of Covid-19. The package aims to alleviate pressure on the local economy, continuing to deliver a high level of service balanced against sustainable and responsible use of ratepayer funds.
