Rangers Rangers provide a variety of services aimed at safeguarding our community, including the enforcement of numerous acts, regulations and local laws.

The City’s Rangers are on duty from 7.00am to 8.00pm, seven days a week. If you require the services of a Ranger, please contact the Customer Contact Centre.

Rates Council rates are charged to property owners annually and make up 45 per cent of the annual income, which contributes to funding services provided by the City. This includes the upkeep and maintenance of the City’s infrastructure and assets, such as roads, trees, paths, parks and public spaces. Rates also fund the many services provided by the City including waste collection, recreation centres, meals on wheels, libraries, ranger and security services and community programs and events. Rates charges are calculated based on the financial year and are issued annually in July. The charges are comprised of various components, including: • Rateable contribution to the City calculated by multiplying the rate in the dollar by the Gross Rental Value (GRV) of the property, subject to a minimum payment which is set annually by Council. Refer to GRV section for further information • Security fee • Emergency Services Levy, imposed by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services • Pool inspection fee (if applicable) • Waste Services fee. Your rates notice provides information regarding payment options along with payment due dates. If you pay your rates in full within 28 days of the issue date, your property will be automatically entered into the City’s Rates Prize Draw. The City offers fantastic prizes ranging from cars to gift vouchers.
