In need of a mentor? The Kaleidoscope Mentoring Program (KMP) is an award-winning initiative that connects newcomer (migrant/refugee) professionals with Australian professionals for three months of mentoring. The Metropolitan Migrant Resource Centre in Mirrabooka will host an information session on Thursday 12 March 2020 for mentees interested in taking part in the program. Visit www.eventbrite.com.au and search ‘KMP Mentee’ to register for the session.

Free 2020 calendars Pick up a free 2020 City of Stirling community calendar today! Showcasing local wildlife, the calendars are available from the City’s Administration Centre, Works Depot, Animal Care Facility, Stirling Libraries and Stirling Leisure Centres or at Karrinyup Shopping Centre, The Square Mirrabooka and Westfield Innaloo. According to Relationships Australia, meaningful social connections between neighbours can help prevent loneliness, isolation and depression. People who know their neighbours are also less likely to be victims of crime. To celebrate the importance of neighbours, the City of Stirling is offering $100 vouchers at Nollamara IGA (only) for residents to hold a Get to Know Your Neighbour event. Visit www.stirling.wa.gov.au and search ‘Get to Know’ for terms and conditions and to make an application. Keep an eye on your local bus shelter When you’re out and about in your neighbourhood, whether it’s driving or walking, don’t forget to look out for community news such as events and new initiatives advertised on bus shelters. City of Stirling is using the community bus shelters as a way to showcase what’s on and provide important information to our residents. Get to know your neighbours

Free trees The City’s Free Tree Program is back in 2020 with a range of species and sizes to fit all gardens and courtyards. As part of the program, residents can request up to two free trees for their garden. Free advice about picking the right tree for the right space included! Visit www.stirling.wa.gov.au/livinggreen or phone (08) 9205 8555 for more details and to register.

The Journey of Waste continues Did you know the City offers its residents on-demand waste disposal for free? This includes collection of mattresses, e-waste and white goods as well as one skip bin each financial year.

As part of the City’s waste education program, a series of short videos explain what happens to these items once they leave your verge. Visit www.stirling.wa.gov.au/waste to watch the videos and to book a waste collection service.
