Figure 5.3 above illustrates the spread of the City’s overall building condition. Although 97 per cent of the City’s buildings are condition 3 or higher, the City must plan the appropriate renewal strategies for its buildings to ensure the City can fund its renewal program to enable the City’s buildings to continue to perform at its required service levels. Due to budget constraints the City faces, the City has hierarchies and renewal strategies in place to prioritise its building renewal program. The City’s buildings are further categorised as major or minor buildings. Buildings categorised as major generally have a higher priority than the minor buildings due to their significance to the community, building type or risk. Figures 5.4 and 5.5 below, represent the overall condition profiles for buildings in each of the major or minor categories. Currently 99 per cent of the City’s major buildings have an overall condition of 3 or more, and one per cent of the major buildings have an overall condition of 4 – 5. At present, 94 per cent of the City’s minor buildings have an overall condition of 3 or more.
