Pocket motorbikes/trail bikes Pocket motorbikes or vehicles under 50cc are classed as a ‘vehicle’ under the Road Traffic Act and cannot be ridden on a footpath or roadway unless registered. Any incidents involving pocket motorbikes should be reported to the Police on 131 444. Pollution The City administers the Environmental Protection (Unauthorised Discharges) Regulation 2004 . This regulation deals with unauthorised discharges from commercial and industrial development to the environment. Light spill is managed under the Local Government Act 2005 . General information on environmental law is available from the State Government’s Environmental Defender’s Office at www.edowa.org.au/factsheets or by phoning (08) 9420 7271 or The Department of Water and Environmental Regulation at www.der.wa.gov.au or phoning (08) 6364 7000. Private swimming pool and spa inspections State government legislation requires all private swimming pools and spas containing water more than 300mm deep, to have a compliant barrier installed, restricting access by young children to the pool and its immediate surrounds. It is a requirement for the City to inspect the area at least every four years to ensure compliance is met. A fee for this service is reflected in the annual rates notice for each property with a registered pool and spa. To check if a pool or spa on your property meets the Safety Barrier Guidelines visit the City’s website for more information or contact the Customer Contact Centre to arrange an inspection.
